Add a new or existing asset library

Modified on Fri, 30 May at 2:47 PM

Asset libraries can be created directly in BrandIn. You can either create a new blank library and add assets later, or link an existing library or folder from SharePoint.

ℹ️
Linking existing libraries means you can add the same library to multiple workspaces, allowing you to combine organization-wide libraries with workspace-specific ones. See Best practices for organizing asset libraries to help users find assets easier and get the most out of BrandIn.

To add a new or existing library:

  1. Go to the home screen of the workspace where you want to add the library.
  2. Select the Edit button next to the workspace name to open workspace settings.
  3. Go to Asset libraries.
  4. Select Add library. You’ll see two options for adding a library: Existing library and Blank library.

Link an existing library

If you have a library or folder already set up in SharePoint, or would like to link a library from another workspace, you can link it to BrandIn instead of creating a new one.

  1. In the Add library menu, select Existing library.
  2. In SharePoint, copy the link of the library or folder you want to link from the browser's address bar, and paste it into the SharePoint link box in BrandIn.
  3. BrandIn fills in the library name from SharePoint. If you like, you can rename it in BrandIn – this won't affect the name in SharePoint.
  4. Choose a library type.
    • Each library type is designed for specific assets, with different behaviours and default views. Some libraries will hide certain file types. Learn more about library types.
  5. Select Add to link the library.

The library will now be accessible from the workspace home screen.

Create a blank library

If you want to set up a new library directly from BrandIn, follow these steps:

  1. In the Add library menu, select Blank library.
  2. Give the library a name.
  3. Choose a library type.
    • Each library type is designed for specific assets, with different behaviours and default views. Some libraries will hide certain file types. Learn more about library types.
  4. Select Create.

This creates a new SharePoint document library in the SharePoint site for your workspace. The library will be accessible from the workspace home screen in BrandIn. Learn how to add assets to your library.
