What is Paragraph styles?

Paragraph styles give your users easy access to on-brand text styles directly from BrandIn.

Paragraph styles are managed at workspace level, so each workspace can have its own set of styles.

Paragraph styles is a desktop-only PowerPoint feature and requires the BrandIn Desktop Extension.

Before you start

You'll need all of these in place before Paragraph styles will work for your team:

• Brand colors set up for the workspace — paragraph styles use the approved text colors from your palettes, so you won't be able to start setup without them. Learn how to set up Brand colors.
• A paragraph styles configuration file in the required JSON format. If you need help preparing this file, contact BrightCarbon and we'll create it for you.
• The BrandIn Desktop Extension installed for everyone who'll use the styles — without it, the Paragraph styles button appears in the Tools tab but is disabled. Learn more about the Desktop Extension and how to install it.

Set up Paragraph styles

Overview

Paragraph styles are set up in two steps:

1. Set up your text styles by uploading a paragraph styles configuration file in Brand guidelines.
2. Enable the Paragraph styles feature in Features to make the styles available to users in the workspace.

You need to complete both steps before users can access Paragraph styles.

1. Set up styles

Paragraph styles are set up in the Brand guidelines by uploading a configuration file.

The configuration file must contain your text styles in the required JSON format. If you need help preparing this file, contact BrightCarbon and we'll create it for you.

Once your file is ready, upload it to BrandIn:

1. Go to the home screen of the workspace where you want to set up Paragraph styles.
2. Select Edit next to the workspace name to open the workspace settings.
3. Go to Brand guidelines, then Paragraph styles.
4. Select Upload styles.
5. Drag and drop your paragraph styles configuration file into the Upload styles dialog. To browse for a file instead, select from your device.
6. Select Upload file.
   
   

BrandIn extracts the styles from your file and adds them to the workspace. They won't appear for users until you enable the Paragraph styles feature.

2. Enable Paragraph styles feature

Once Paragraph styles have been set up in Brand guidelines and BrandIn Desktop Extension has been installed, you can enable the Paragraph styles feature.

To turn on the feature for a workspace:

1. Go to the home screen of the workspace where you want to enable the feature.
2. Select Edit next to the workspace name to open the workspace settings.
3. Go to Features.
4. Select Paragraph styles, then turn on the toggle.
   
   

Once enabled, the paragraph styles button will appear in the Tools tab of the workspace where the feature was turned on.

Replace Paragraph styles

To make changes to your Paragraph styles, you need to upload a new configuration file. Existing styles cannot be edited directly in BrandIn.

If you need help updating the file, contact BrightCarbon and we'll make the changes for you.

Once your updated configuration file is ready, replace the existing styles in BrandIn:

1. On the Paragraph styles screen, select Replace styles.
2. Drag and drop your updated paragraph styles configuration file into the dialog. To browse for a file instead, select from your device.
3. Select Upload file.

Your existing styles will be replaced with the ones from the updated configuration file.

Delete all your styles

Deleting removes every paragraph style in the workspace and can't be undone. You'll need to upload a configuration file again to restore them

• On the Paragraph styles screen, select the More options button (three dots).
• Select Delete styles.
